Featuring strong, sturdy, teeth, this comb is about 3.5 inches wide (9cm) long and 3 inches (8cm) wide. I've found this to be the right size - it fits in the hand well and slides through hair nicely, and can easily fit in a shirt pocket, or dangle from the straps of an apron dress or a belt.

The carving is based on a find of an original comb which was found in the river Scheldt, and dates from 750 to 900 A.D. While the original was bone, Ragnar loves his horn combs, and as such, this one is made from cow's horn.

Horn is an excellent material for things like combs as it does not generate static electricity when being used, and it will slide through hair, especially beards, easier and smoother than a comparable plastic one.

Horn is very durable, and unless you sit on it, this comb should last you a long time.

I specialize in making drinking horns, and in doing so, I often end up with a lot of scrap pieces. I take the largest pieces, flatten them, and then cut them into combs.
